Event Details
This year The Pagan Federation celebrates 40 years since its "official" foundation in 1971. To mark the occasion we are hosting a major celebration weekend of Paganism in the 21st century.
The Pagan Federation has now bridged two centuries of a Pagan revival that took off in the 18th century, as Europeans turned once more to the deities of Greece and Rome. It continued through the 19th century, as our antecedents learned about the religion of ancient Egypt, the cultural heritage of their own countries, and the deities and religious practices of the wider world.
In the mid-20th century, those who founded the Pagan Federation were at the leading edge of a growing movement of people who, while finding spiritual inspiration in different parts of our cultural heritage, shared a common vision. That vision is what we are now taking forward in the 21st century.
In our international conference on 8th October, the Pagan community will be celebrating and seeking; celebrating the achievements of the past and seeking vision, energy and new inspiration for the challenges to come.
We have a vision of Paganism that is a green spirituality rooted in the earth and traditions of our ancestors. This is not a romantic harking back to the past; but a living, growing spirituality that is meaningful to society today and in the future. It is a spirituality that honours the Divine spirit within each one us and in nature around us; that inspires us to create a society that values and cherishes the uniqueness of each living person; a spirituality of earth and heaven, of Goddess and God, of Pagan and Heathen.
From past and present, we will build the future of Paganism for the 21st century. Come and help us enjoy and explore, celebrate and envision, and build the foundation of the Pagan Federation for the next 40 years to come.
